Build your own kite

The tradition of the comet was born in ancient China around 1200 BC. At first, these paper figures were used as a military signaling device. Each movement represented a different message, it was sent from one military station to another in order to decode the message.
Although our country Mexico adopted it as a tradition, imagination and creativity. The best-known kite, is a toy that belongs to the national essence, was for decades the favorite pastime of the population of both young and old.

Here are the steps to follow to create this fun traditional toy.
materials
• 2 wooden rods (50cm and 30cm)
• Thick or Chinese paper
• Hemp rope or thread (thick thread)

Tools
• Scissors
• Scotch tape
• Ruler
• Pencil
1. Place the wooden poles one on top of the other forming a cross. It is important to leave at least 20 to 30 cm at the top of the intersection. After this, tie the center with a thread or rope.

2. Place the paper under the sticks, measure and cut wood that is just around the rhombus. You can leave a margin of 1 cm to fold and paste at the end, this will help you have more support.

3. Pierce the four corners of the paper and entangle the string at each end. Try not to make it so fair or you can break the paper. If you consider it necessary, stick tape on the corners to reinforce.

4. Take a piece of string and tie it at the two ends of the shortest stick.

Then, with another piece, tie the center of the previous rope so that it is long enough for your kite to fly as high as possible.

5. Glue long strips of paper of different colors, and the length you want. The length and color will make your kite look better in the sky.
